51st STATE TAVERN
opened during Labor Day weekend 2004 and has quickly become the favorite hangout/neighborhood bar of local residents, office workers and students in Foggy Bottom/West End. We strive to create a cozy, fun place for a diverse crowd. The tavern features antique bars on 2 floors imported from Pittsburgh and Kansas City. The artwork hangs on exposed brick, including oversized classic Guinness posters (collected over many years by owner, Joe Lyon). Wooden booths from the 1920's line the wall. Some modern touches include 2 internet jukeboxes (over 1,000,000 musical choices guarantees you'll find what you like), 10 flatscreen TVs, including a 60" plasma screen and a pool table on the 2nd floor. All combine to create an atmosphere that will make you feel at home right away.
Our menu is comprised of classic American favorites such as juicy burgers, hot wings and sandwiches. We offer 2 fully stocked bars, 16 beers on tap, a variety of bottled beer and wines, as well as a cocktail menu.
We are conveniently located where L Street connects with Pennsylvania Avenue and 25th Street in NW, near the Foggy Bottom Metro Station (Orange/Blue Line).
The BEST happy hour in the West End and our nightly specials ensure that whether you want to relax after a long day at work, sip a drink on our patio during warmer months or have a fun night on the town, you can do it all at
